According to a press release by the Sierra Club, “The Sierra Club joined coalition partners in submitting a legal brief to the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit today in support of the Obama Administration’s Clean Power Plan, the single biggest step the U.S. has ever taken to address the threat of climate change. ‘We are very confident that the Clean Power Plan will prevail and that its significant public health and economic benefits will be implemented nationwide,’ said Joanne Spalding, Chief Climate Counsel at the Sierra Club. ‘The brief we are filing today lays out why we fully expect the court to uphold the Clean Power Plan, stressing that these standards are rooted in Clean Air Act provisions that require EPA to cut carbon pollution — an authority passed by Congress, upheld by the Supreme Court, and implemented by the President.’”
